Meet the chef

My name is Amy, I am a licensed personal chef.  I have a passion for making food that not only looks and tastes amazing but is also healthy for me and my family.  I know the benefits of healthy eating and I also know that it isn't always easy for a busy family to eat healthy.  I certainly don't have all of the answers and we are far from perfect eaters.  I do however, want to share some of the tricks that I have learned for preparing healthy meals for my family.  (Let's face it, sometimes you have to be downright sneaky to get kids to eat their vegetables.)

My husband and I are blessed to be the parents of two wonderful teenagers.  We are so thankful to have healthy and active kids.  We definitely value the family time that we have together because they are growing up so quickly.  Keeping up with their school work, sport schedules and social activities is both challenging and exhausting.  We share the responsibilities of transporting the kids to and from their activities which often interferes with the dinner schedule. Unfortunately, family dinners at home are not always an option for this family.  Depending on the season and which sports my children are involved in at the time, dinners are packed "to go" quite often.  I will share some creative ideas for preparing healthy dinners on the go and I would love to hear your ideas as well.

I love to try new recipes and experiment with new ingredients and flavors.  I rarely make the same meal twice.  I always try and cook with fruits and vegetables at the peak of their freshness.  I have a small garden in my yard and I also have several local farms that I visit to pick my own fruit.   Since we all lead pretty active lifestyles,  I also try and incorporate a lot of lean protein into our diet.  Check out my page on menu planning for more details about how I plan the menu for my family.

I hope that you will enjoy this blog as much as I do.

Bon Appetit!
